Abstract

With the increase in pollution and contamination rates of surface and ground water sources by industrial effluent and urbanization, treatment of waste water became an important part in human life. Aeration is one of the methods which help in removal of various contaminants present in waste water. Various aeration systems have been developed during past decade which sustain fish and invertebrate biomass apart from purification of water. Aeration enables water and air come in close contact, resulting into removal of dissolved gases and oxidation of dissolved metals, hydrogen sulfide, and volatile organic chemicals. In order to supply dissolved oxygen and remove contaminants, aerator is frequently attached to the fish pond. Taking this consideration ‘Inverted Umbrella Aerator’ has been fabricated to add oxygen in waste water and decrease contaminants with the help of fresh air bubbles. Present study gives an account on a new manually designed aerator for reducing pollution status of waste water.
