Algal flora of water purification plant in Dhule city

City water supply demands pure water which is expected free from impurities. For this purpose water purification plants are installed, wherein the water is purified before it is supplied to the citizens. Such water purification plant consists of big impoundments to store water for filtration. Presence of algal species may be noticed in such impoundments. These microalgae create considerable interference during filtration. During present investigation, Babhale water purification plant in Dhule city was screened for algal flora, which receives water from Tapi river. Total 18 algal taxa were recorded from this plant.
