Celosia argentia L. has been scrutinized against soluble protein content in germinating seeds of Lentil (Lens culinaris Medic.). For this purpose, the laboratory experiments were conducted to assess soluble protein content of germinating seeds of Lentil after treating the seeds with different concentrations (5, 20, 40, 60 and 80%) of aqueous leachates of inflorescence (flower), leaves and root of C. argentea. The result showed that the treatments with inflorescence (flower), leaves and root of C. argentea leachates were responsible for enhancement in soluble protein content in Lentil seedlings. The study confirmed the presence of allelochemicals in the weed C. argentea.
