Many algal forms appear as green crusts on soil surface in rainy season. Myxophyceae secrete mucilage and become successful crust forming algae on moist soils. Seventeen filamentous non-heterocystous taxa of Genus Lyngbya, Schizothrix, Symploca and Microcoleus were observed from moist soils of Kondaibari ghat, situated on Dhule-Surat Road.
