Abstract

Insecticidal potential of Pimenta dioica against red flour beetle (Tribolium castaneum) was studied by employing its methanol, ethanol, acetone and distilled water extracts. It was observed that the aqueous extract was superior in controlling the population of pest. Significant reduction in total protein, glycogen, lipid, free amino acids and nucleic acids was observed when the beetles were treated with the sub-lethal concentration of Pimenta dioica aqueous extract.
