Studies on protective effect of sesame seed on Aloe vera induced reproductive impairment in male albino rat

Abstract

This study was intended to assess the effect of sesame seed on Aloe vera treated male albino rats. Eighteen rats were randomly divided into 3 groups. Group I remained as control, while group II and III were experimental group, the animals among which were provided with 25 mg/kg body weight (bw) Aloe vera, and 25+30 mg/kg bw Aloe vera + sesame seed, respectively for 60 days. Group II showed significant reduction in sperm number, motility and reproductive hormonal level. Group III, however showed recovery effect, thus it was concluded that Aloe vera induced male reproductive impairment in albino rats can be recovered by supplementing the diet with sesame seeds.
