The Normalized difference bareness Index (NDBaL) was worked out to analyze changes in land cover with the help of Landsat satellite imagery. Landsat 8. Data from 2013 and 2023 were used to analyze land cover changes in Mandvi Taluka of Surat district, Gujarat. The analysis identified different categories of bare lands and their distribution. The findings showed stable coverage of vegetation and cultivated land, while increase in the area of barren land, indicating need of monitoring land cover changes.
