Abstract

Asopinae predatory bug species, Andrallus spinidens (F.), and Amyotea malabarica (F.) are commonly found in rice fields. RAPD markers were used to know the genetic distance between A. spinidens and A. malabarica based on the presence and absence of the banding pattern. Five RAPD primers were used for PCR amplification, while 39 DNA bands were generated by A. spinidens and A. malabarica. A. spinidens and A. malabarica generated 21 and 18 bands respectively Number of monomorphic and polymorphic bands were 12 and 13 respectively. The present study confirms polymorphism between A. spinidens and A. malabarica, the genetic distance between them was calculated as 0.20368.
