Abstract

Kamthi coalfield one of the major open cast coalfields in Central India, from where the present specimen was collected. The stem was un-branched without leaf sheath, differentiated into nodes and internodes. Internodes long and nodes were narrow. Axis 4 cm to 15 cm long and nodes were also narrow. Internode 1.4 cm to 9 cm long, with conspicuous ridges (24 to 30) and furrows (22 to 25). The ridges were 0.3 to 1 mm broad. Ridges and furrows were continuous from one internode to other, hence identified as Neocalamites kanhanensis, which is second record from Kanhan coal field of Kamthi Stage.
