Heavy metals in Saprar Dam, Mauranipur, Jhansi (U.P.)

Abstract

Present study was undertaken on the contents of heavy metals in Saprar Dam, situated in Mauranipur tehsil of Jhansi district, Uttar Pradesh. Water samples were collected seasonally from three sites within the dam from January 2017 to December 2019 and were analyzed for heavy metals concentration using Atomic Adsorption Spectrometer (AAS). The amounts of Copper, Lead, and Cadmium were below detectable limits, while and Zinc was found within the range of 0.012 to 0.037 mg/l, i.e. within the permissible limits as prescribed by WHO and BIS standards.
