Abstract

Phytochemical constituents in the leaf extract of Andrographis paniculata (Burm. f.) Wall. ex Nees. were evaluated. Gas Chromatography- Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) was employed to identify and quantify bioactive compounds present in the plant. Preliminary phytochemical screening of ethanolic and aqueous extracts revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolics, glycosides, steroids, and terpenoids in the ethanolic extract. Twenty five bioactive compounds were identified through GC-MS analysis, which included methylsilane, azulene, erucic acid, dyphylline, and ferulic acid.
