Larvicidal activity of of Oroxylum indicum leaf extracts was investigated against M. domestica. For this purpose the leaves of O. indicum were collected, identified, and processed to prepare ethanol, acetone, ethyl acetate, chloroform, and hexane extracts using a Soxhlet apparatus. The larvicidal bioassay was conducted on third instar larvae under controlled laboratory conditions, using imidacloprid as a positive control and the respective solvents as negative controls. Mortality and morphological changes were recorded on 24 hours post- treatment, and corrected mortality was calculated using Abbott’s formula. The chloroform extract exhibited highest larvicidal effect with a corrected mortality of 22.86 ± 0.33%, followed by hexane with 3.33 ± 0.33%. Observations included larval shrinkage without color change. Ethanol, acetone, and ethyl acetate extracts showed no significant mortality. While previous studies demonstrated strong adulticidal activity of O. indicum, current results indicated moderate larvicidal effects, that exhibited the need for further investigation of other plant parts along with the adjuvants or novel application designs.
