Asparagopsis Mont. is marine algae belonging to family Bonnemaisoniaceae of the division Rhodophyta. Although the genus is represented by three taxa in the world, in India only one taxon Asparagopsis taxiformis (Delile) Trevis. has been reported. Present paper deals with taxonomic account of this species with detailed distribution data.
