Pain Reduction and Stone Expulsion in Renal Calculus Disease (Mutrashmari): A Case Study on the Role of Herbal Formulation from Ayurvedic Medicine

Abstract

Renal stones, frequently known as kidney stones, are hard deposits composed of minerals and salts that form within the kidneys. This condition is known as nephrolithiasis. In Ayurveda Renal stones are mentioned as Ashmari/ mutrashmari. The recent advancements in the treatment of renal stones in India have significantly improved patient outcomes and reduced recovery times. One of the most notable developments is the adoption of minimally invasive techniques such as Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL), Ureteroscopy (URS), and Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL), but all these surgical measures are used in the large size stones. Even though for the small size of renal stones modern medical system is still finding ways to cure them effectively. Ayurveda has successfully recommended suitable medication along with a personalised regimen for different persons with small renal stones. Ayurveda is providing a personalised regimen for different people of the same disease based on the body constitutions known as the Prakriti of the person. Present study is the case reports of renal stones which has been treated with Ayurvedic medication along with lifestyle modification.
