Present investigation was undertaken on isolation and identification of Bifidobacterium longum from yogurt and buttermilk samples collected from District Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh). Fresh samples of yogurt and buttermilk were collected from local vendors and households, enriched with nutrient agar and kept under anaerobic conditions. The isolates were characterized on the basis of their colony morphology, Gram staining, and biochemical tests identification of microbes. The isolates were evaluated for probiotic traits, such as acid and bile salt tolerance, antibiotic susceptibility, and antimicrobial activity. The findings highlighted presence of Bifidobacterium longum strains with potential probiotic properties.
