Effect of seed treatments on germination of kagzi lime seeds

Abstract

Present investigation was undertaken to study the effect of different seed treatments of organic waste, growth regulators and chemicals on germination of Kagzi lime seeds. The highest germination percentage was observed under the influence of GA 80 ppm (93.33%) followed by NAA 80 ppm (90.00%). The organic waste like Cow dung and Cow urine proved to be beneficial in increasing germination to 70.00 % and 86.66% respectively. Maximum number of seedlings (including nucellar seedlings) per seed were noticed under the influence of GA 80 ppm (1.95) followed by GA 60 ppm (1.80). The seeds treated with Cow urine and Cow dung paste also recorded a significant increase in number of seedlings over control i.e. 1.58 and 1.64 respectively. The seeds treated with GA, NAA, Cow urine and Cow dung paste completed their germination within 28 days after sowing. The minimum number of days, i.e. 23 days, were required for 100 percent seed germination due to the treatment with GA 80 ppm.
