Acute Toxicity Bioassay of Lambda-Cyhalothrin on Eisenia Foetida

Abstract

Present study was undertaken to assess toxicity of lambda-cyhalothrin, a synthetic insecticide, on earthworm Eisenia foetida. Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. (OECD) guideline 207 was followed for the application of lambda-cyhalothrin to the soil. Earthworm mortality was noted on a regular basis up to 14 days. Lethal concentration (LC50) was calculated by probit analysis method. The result showed dose-dependent rise in mortality due to the application of lambda-cyhalothrin. About 6 ppm lambda-cyhalothrin / kg soil for 14-days was the LC50 value.
