Abstract

During floristic work at Amaravati an interesting specimen of genus Cleome (Family Cleomaceae) was collected. It was identified as Cleome rutidosperma DC., Being a native of tropical Africa, it is reported as a new distributional record to the flora of Amravati District, Maharashtra. In present communication its taxonomic description has been provided. Its ecological behavior, invasive impact, allelochemical nature, dispersal ecology ant-plant interaction, phytochemical potential and population genetics have been discussed.
