During recent botanical survey undertaken along coastal regions of South Gujarat, a new plant species, Ipomoea violacea L. (Family: Convolvulaceae) was reported Gujarat state. The species was collected from coastal habitats of Navsari and Valsad districts. This resulted into a new addition to the flora of Gujarat. The present paper provides morphological description and ecological status of the plant species based on the observations under field conditions.
