The gut-brain axis refers to the bidirectional communication network between the gut microbiome and central nervous system. In Ayurveda, this concept is intricately linked with the Grahani and Pittadhara Kala, which play crucial roles in digestion, gut health, and overall well-being. Grahani Refers to the small intestine, responsible for nutrient absorption and gut barrier function, while, Pittadhara Kala is a sub-dosha of Pachaka Pitta, governing digestive enzymes and gut metabolism. Dysregulation of the gut-brain axis can lead to various disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), anxiety, and depression.Ayurvedic principles suggest that balancing Agni (digestive fire) and maintaining Grahani and Pittadhara Kala harmony can positively influence the gut-brain axis. This abstract highlights the interplay between gut health, brain function, and Ayurvedic concepts, emphasizing the importance of holistic approaches to digestive and mental well-being.
