Antibacterial activity of reproductive tissues of Cyprinus Carpio and their abilities to inhibit growth of pathogenic fungi and bacteria were evaluated. To evaluate the antibacterial activity, agar well diffusion assay of the tissue extracts were performed employing three types of bacteria: Escherichia coli, Bacillis subtilis and Salmonella enterica. The tissue extracts showed, species specific antibacterial effect, however, no inhibitory action was detected in case of S. enterica, while B. subtilis was most sensitive to the extracts. Antifungal activity was tested against Penicillium citrinum, Fusarium oxysporum and Fusarium solani. The antifungal effect was specific under different concentrations of the tissue extracts. The results suggested that reproductive organs of Cyprinus Carpio possess antibacterial and antifungal properties, which are highly selective depending on the pathogen as well as the organ, from which the tissues were obtained.
