Abstract

The present investigation reports a new species of the genus Mehraorchis from Rana tigrina. Srivastava, (1934) established the genus Mehraorchis ranarum as type species for flukes, collected from cysts in the body cavity of Rana cyanophlyctis in Sitapur Oudh (India). Later Bhalerao (1936) reported same species from bile duct, gall bladder of Rana tigrina in Hoshiyarpur, Punjab. A third species M. Chamaeleonis was collected by Simha (1958) from gall bladder of chameleon in Hyderabad. Present fluke differs from all known species. hence, it is considered as new species of genus Mehraorchis, and named as M. saintkabirin. sp.
