Abstract

The present work deals with enumeration of fungal species and studies on their diversity in rhizosphere of Cajanus cajan, L. A total number of 51 species belonging to 21 genera of microfungi were isolated. Mitosporic count was found to be dominating in the population. The most common genera were Aspergillus, Alternaria, Curvularia, Cladosporium, Fusarium, Penicillium and Trichodenna. The study reveals the distribution pattern of fungal population in the soil during different growth stages of Cajanus cajan L.
