Abstract

The sunflower, Helianthus annuus L comprises an important member of family Asteraceae. The mutagenic effects of gamma rays (5, 10 and 15kR) and sodium azide (0.01,0.03 and0.05%) on the frequency and spectrum of chlorophyll mutations in two varieties of sunflower, namely, Solapur sunflower (SS-56) and Latur sunflower (LS-11) have been studied. Both the varieties of sunflower differed marginally in their response towards different mutagens with respect to the parameters of viable mutants.
