Abstract

Semecarpus anacardium (Bhallataka) pericarp oil extract was orally administered to albino rats of either sex. The LD50 was found to be 1 gm/kg bw/day for 4 days. Alterations in activity of enzymes of thigh muscles indicated muscular dystrophy and weakness in treated rats.
