Field experiments were conducted to assess the effect of Agave canta/a Roxb. leaf extract in controlling downy mildew in the grape (Vitis vinifera L.) caused by Plasmopara viticoIa. Total polyphenols and activity of enzyme polyphenol oxidase increased in the leaves, sprayed with leaf extract as compared to those in healthy and infected leaves. A. cantala leaf extract spray was beneficial in controlling downy mildew infection of grape leaves.
