Studies on the family Lejeuneaceae from Andaman Islands, India

Abstract

The paper gives an account of the taxa belonging to family Lejeuneaceae from various Andaman Islands, India. Total 30 corticolous and foliicolous species belonging to 12 genera are distributed over 03 subfamilies viz. Ptychnthoidae, Lejeunoidae and Cololejeunoidae. Andaman showed luxuriant growth of epiphyllous hepatics than that of corticolous forms. The Lejeuneaceae taxa provided connecting link with the species reported in Malaya, Burma and mainlands of India (Lopholejeunea, Ptychanthus, Cheilolejeunea, Lejeunea, Leptolejeunea, Colura and Cololejeunea).
