Regional and seaonal changes in phytochemical constituents of Vitex negundo and Woodfordia fruticosa from Western Ghats
Abstract
Physiological and phytochemical constituents in leaf samples of Vitex negundo and Woodfordia fruticosa, growing at three localities viz Devgarh (Sindhudurg), Wai (Mahabaleshwar) and Bhimashankar (Pune) from Western Ghats were analyzed. The results revealed that photosynthetic pigments, reducing and total sugars, starch and phytochemical constituents like alkaloids, steroids, saponins, glycosides and flavonoids varied with region as well as season in above medicinal plants.
