Abstract

Effect of NaCl salinity on photosynthetic pigments, polyphenols, carbohyedrates and inorganic contents in the leaves of Chenopodium album Linn was studied. The photosynthetic pigments increased at lower salinity while decreased with increasing NaCl salinity. Polyphenols got accumulated due to NaCl salinity. Total sugars increased at lower and markedly declined at higher salinity. The Na content increased while K+, Ca and Fe contents decreased due to salinity. The Mg++ levels at lower concentration showed correlation with increased chlorophyll content due to NaCl salinity.
