This investigation deals with plants yielding colchicine like compounds from the families Liliaceae and Amaryllidaceae. The presence of colchicine, or its analogue has been confirmed by testing their ability to induce metaphase arrest and potential as an antimitotic agent. TLC, and HPLC of the extracted compounds have also been carried out.
