Botany Research Laboratory and Plant Disease Clinic, N.E.S. Science College, Nanded, (M.S.).
Studies on diversity of fungi at four sites of Godavari river passing through Nanded (M.S.), were carried out. The samples of water were tested four times. i.e. in the months of January, April, July and October 2009 and analyzed for presence of fungal propagules in terms of CFUs (Colony forming units). The average CFU ranged from 1098 to 2487 per liter of water. The highest number of CFU were reported from samples collected during the month of October while the lowest CFU were reported during the month of January. In all 21 fungal species were identified from Govardhan Ghat, 19 from Nangina ghat and old bridge while 16 from new bridge site. At all sites, dominant fungal species were among Deuteromycetes followed by Ascomycetes.
