Antibacterial effect of different plant parts of Acacia arabica, Azardiracta india, Allium sativum and Zingiber officinalis was tested against bacterial pathogens viz E. coli (MTCC No: 1680), Staphylococcus aureus (MTCC No: 7443), Streptococcus pyogenes (MTCC No: 1925) Pseudomonas aeruginosa (MTCC No: 4727) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (MTCC No: 3384). Extracts of leaves, fruits and flowers of A. arabica were found to be most effective against all bacterial strains. Extract of A. sativum also exhibited significant effect. Aqueous extract of Z. officinalis rhizome was however, found to be ineffective against Streptococcus, Pseudomonas and Klebsiella.
