Abstract

Present paper deals with morphology and anatomy of Barleria cristata L. and B. prionitis L. in the light of their medicinal properties. Both the species are widely distributed in Marathwada region of Maharashtra State. Being important medicinal plants, both the species are known to reduce swelling, snake bite, asthma, leprosy and cough, toothache, jaundice, fever and have antiseptic properties too. The present investigation was undertaken in order to differentiate them correctly.
