Abstract

Influence of foliar application of Vipul on growth and biochemical features of Vetiver grass was studied. Foliar sprays of Vipul increased tiller number and dry weights of shoot and roots. Chlorophyll and carotenoid contents were elevated due to Vipul treatment associated with accumulation of starch in the root and increase in reducing sugar in leaf. Higher dose of Vipul increased anthocyanin and total polyphenol content. Foliar applications of Vipul caused alterations in mineral status in leaves and roots. Vipul treatment stimulated nitrate reductase and acid phosphatase activities. TLC analysis revealed influence of Vipul on essential oil composition in root tissue.
