Blepharis repens (Vahl.) Roth, (Synonym Acanthus repens Vahl) is a prostrate undershrub of the family Acanthaceae, commonly known as Hadsan. The plant is used against chronic fever and as diuretic, aphrodisiacs and expectorant. The samples available in market may be adulterated and therefore attempts were made to standardize the plant using morphology, anatomy, maceration techniques and phytochemical evaluation. The preliminary phytochemical tests revealed the presence of alkaloids, tannins and saponin in this plant.
