Abstract

Trichoderma species were used as biocontrol agents for management of soil borne diseases of crop plants. The seeds of Cajanus cajan L. (pegion pea), Phaseolus aconitifolius Jacq. (moth) and Cicer aurietinum L. (gram) were treated with T. viride, T. harzianum, T. koningii, T. pseudokoningii and T. virens. Trichoderma induced seed germination, biomass production and vigour index of pulse crops. Among the Trichoderma spp tested, T. harzianum showed maximum effect on seed germination; the effect on biomass production and vigour index in pigeon pea was more pronounced. T. koningii increased biomass production and vigour index of gram. However, biomass production in moth increased due to T. koningii while vigour index was maximum with T. harzianum.
