Biosecurity of broilers in Dhule district

Fifteen broiler farms in Dhule District in Maharashtra were selected and effect of Biosecurity measures on performance of broiler chickens was studied on the spot observation as well as on the basis of questionnaire. All the farms were categorized under excellent, optimurn and poor sanitation farms on the basis of Biosecurity measures adopted by farmers. It was evident that the Biosecurity measures had direct effect on the performance of birds. The mortality rate was highest in poor sanitation broiler farms followed by optimum and excellent sanitation broiler farms. They weight gain per bird at 45 days age was highest in excellent sanitary and biosecurity applied farms followed by optimum and poor sanitation farms.
