Abstract

Present paper deals with regeneration of Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal through nodal explants. The MS (Murashige and Skoog) medium, supplemented with 0.3 mg/l BAP (6-Benzyl Amino Purine) and 0.1 mg/l NAA (Naphthalene Acetic Acid) was used for induction of multiple shooting. Increasing concentration of BAP increased number of shoots per explant. Maximum numbers of shoots were observed with 2.0 mg/l BAP (6-Benzyl Amino Purine). The shoots were rooted with 0.3 mg/l IBA (Indole-3 Butyric Acid) containing media and transferred successfully to the field.
