Abstract

Present study deals with diversity of Nostocaceae from different sites of Jalgaon viz. Hartala lake, Velhala lake, Tapti river, Waghoor river; at monthly intervals from October 1998 to September 2000. Twenty seven species belonging to the Cylindrospermum, Nostoc, Anabaena and Raphidiopsis of family Nostocaceae were recorded for the first time from this region. Maximum population of Nostoc was recorded in the month of June and July while N. piscinale was observed throuout the year. Among Nostocaceae, Nostoc and Anabaena were dominant represented by 11 and 12 species respectively. Cylindrospermum and Raphidiopsis were rarely observed.
