Mosaic disease of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merrill] was observed on variety DS-228 in Sangli producing vein clearing, puckering, mottling, distortion of leaves, leaf curling and stunting of plant. The virus had limited host range with various symptoms. Chlorotic local leasions were induced in Chenopodium amaranticolor and C. quinoa. The virus got transmitted by four aphid species viz., Myzus persicae, Aphis craccivora, Aphis glycines and Aphis gossypii. The virus had in vitro longevity of 84 hours at room temperature, dilution end point between 10−3 to 10−4 and thermal inactivation point between 60 to 65oC. Purified virions consisted of flexous rods, 741 - 755 nm in length and 13 - 16 nm in breadth. The results indicated that virus belongs to Potyvirus group.
