Abstract

High temperatures cause an array of morphological, physiological and biochemical changes in plants, which affect plant growth and development and may lead to a drastic reduction in economic yield and quality. Although high temperatures affect plant growth at all of the developmental stages; anthesis and grain filling get highly affected. High temperature may slow down or totally inhibit seed germination, depending on species and the intensity of the heat stress.
