Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at the National Seed Project (Crops), MARS, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad during kharif 2007 to understand the consequence of pre-sowing seed treatments on seed quality and crop establishment in sunflower hybrid KBSH-1. Seeds treated with 2% CaCl2 for 12 h recorded significantly higher germination percentage (86.6%), seedling vigour index (2243), field emergence (81.50%), lesser days for 50 per cent flowering (58.2) and yield per ha (11.83 q/ha).
