Abstract

Studies were undertaken to optimize different carbon and nitrogen sources for maximum de-colorization of textile dye reactive blue 59 by Bacillus licheniformis sp. F4 isolated from soil contaminated with textile industry effluent, Ichalkaranji. Among the various carbon sources, 1% (w/v) glucose and among various nitrogen sources, 1% (w/v) ammonium chloride were found to be optimum for maximum de-colorization of reactive blue 59 (150 mg/l) at pH 7.0 and 30°C. Sodium acetate was found to be poor source of carbon.
