Per cent seed germination and seedling growth showed gradual decline with increasing concentration of sugar factory effluent. Though at 10% concentration, the effluent, promoted the growth, its toxic effects were observed. The effluent thus can be used safely while cultivating Cicer arietinum and Trigonella foenum-graecum after proper dilution.
