Abstract

The primary infection of sugarcane smut caused by Ustilago scitaminea Sydow showed significant positive correlation with minimum temperature (r = 0.937). Secondary infection of smut had significant negative correlation with soil temperature(r = -0.880). Among various abiotic factors, minimum temperature and soil temperature were most influencing with a contributing 87and 77% variation in primary and secondary infections respectively.
