Abstract

Application of urea increased plant height, number of leaves per plant and neck thickness of onion crop. Application of FYM resulted in earlier maturity, while that of Agrigold and vermicompost increased the bulb yield. Globular shaped onions were obtained due to the supplementation of Bhoomilabh. Though, the highest number of rings per bulb (8.67) were recorded with the application of urea, application of Vermicompost (8.17) and sheep manure (8.03) gave similar results. Onion bulbs grown with Vermicompost recorded higher TSS (17.23%) and Dry matter (19.42%). Maximum profitability was recorded with the application of sheep manure. The study on storage revealed lower physiological loss in weight (PLW), rotting and sprouting losses due to the application organic manures.
