Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during rabi seasons of 1997–98 and 1998–99 at Kanpur to find out the effect of fertilizer management on vegetative growth, yield components, yield, total moisture use, moisture use efficiency, root development and economic return of Rai ‘Vaibhav’ under rainfed condition. Results revealed that application of 60 Kg. N + 30 kg P2O5 + 20kg S + 5 kg Zn/ha being at par with 60 kg N + 30 kg P2O5 + 20 kg S/ha brought about Significantly the higher vegetative growth, yield components and yield as compared to other treatments. In addition, the root development total moisture use, moisture use efficiency net return and cost: benefit ratio were also noticed more.
