Abstract

An experiment “To assess the performance of crop sequences grouped on the basis of rice varieties” was conducted at R.S. Pura Research centre (Jammu & Kashmir) during 2003–04 to 2005–06 under AII India Coordinated Research Project on Cropping Systems. In order to examine the production potential and economics of rice varieties based groups and crop sequences within these groups the data of the above said period, where rice-wheat is the prevalent cropping system has been used. The data were converted in terms of net return (Rs./ha). As the adopted design formed a group balanced block design, the data for individual years and over years were analysed accordingly. Results revealed that out of the four sequences with short duration rice variety IET-1410 gave the maximum return from the crop sequence rice cauliflower - frenchbean during 2003–04, 2004–05, 2005–06 and over years recpectively. In net shell, maximum net return can be measured by sowing rice variety IET - 1410 in kharif, cauliflower in rabi and frenchbean in summer season in place of predominent rice-wheat cropping system.
