Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during Rabi seasons of 2001–2002 and 2003–2004, to study the response of mustard varieties to date of sowing and moisture conservation practices under scarce moisture condition. On the basis of over all consideration of growth, development, heat unit accumulation, heat unit efficiency, yield attributes, yield and net profit, the crop sown on 15th October resulted in, maximum growth and yield during both the year, while delayed sowing lowered the growth and yield. Variety “Vaibhav” prove to be the most promosing in growth, yield and net return as compared to variety “Urwashi” under the test. Among the moisture conservation practices, paddy straw mulch proves to be better over moisture conservation practices applied during the experimentation.
