A field experiment was conducted during winter season of 1998–99 to assess the response of gibberellic add and sulphur application on yield and quality of onion. Application of gibberellic acid (GA3) @ 150ppm + 30 kg S/ha showed significantly highest yield (344.49 q/ha), which was 75.44 percent higher over control. The size of bulb and bulb protein content were also maximum with this treatment. The value of carbohydrate varied from 19.32 to 27.62 percent. The highest carbohydrate was obtained with the use of 150 ppm GA3 and 15 kg S/ha. Total soluble solids were highest with 250 ppm GA3 with no sulphur. Highest value of minerals was recorded with 150ppm GA3 with 15 kg S/ha. The maximum sugar content (56%) was also obtained with 150 ppm GA3 and 15 kg S/ha. Tryptophane content (0.61 g/16g N) was recorded maximum with the use of 250ppm GA3 and no sulphur/ha.
